Along the way, encounters made on or near the water will give a voice to the canals, rivers, and streams crossed, helping the audience realize that our waterways are more than static geographical features. Our rivers are alive \u2014 but they can also die. They are homes, timeless communication routes, natural borders, and cultural symbols that were once even elevated to the status of deities (for instance, in ancient Celtic mythology, the River Seine was seen as the goddess Sequana, whose cult was closely tied to that of water).
